From photographer Mag & B Photography, this Sugar Bowl Ski Resort wedding pairs the beauty of the Lake Tahoe forest with elegant, natural details. Art In Bloom finished the theme with a floral design of bright local wildflowers and greenery. The bridal party looked stunning with makeup and hair styled by the lovely ladies at Studio 89. The bride tells their wedding story below.
Will and I met at a bus stop in San Francisco. I had sprinted to catch a bus and missed it and was out of breath, and Will walked up asking me when the next bus was supposed to come. Will and I always come to Truckee to get out of the city. We were up there in August of 2014 and he was acting funny, begging me to go to the Truckee River to walk around. It was chilly out, so I just decided to sit on a rock and he came up next to me to propose.
I have been skiing at Sugar Bowl since I was 5, and Will learned to snowboard there when we first started dating. It is both of our favorite places to ski so we decided it was the best spot to have our wedding.
I wanted everything to look "natural." I didn't want anything to take away from the beautiful scenery, so I chose yellows, greens and oranges. I chose to have wildflowers added, because I felt it fit well with the scenery.
Will's mom passed away in February unexpectedly, and she was big into gardening, and we wanted to remember her with some of the things we chose, like planting a "unity tree" and our wildflower seed wedding favors. We also had a cupcake flavor in her honor.-We took the ski lift to the top, and it was definitely worth it. The views were spectacular. I knew we weren't going to have a "getaway" car at the end of the night, so I chose to hang a "just married" sign on the back of our chair, which made for some pretty cute photos. We also served a glass of champagne on the ride up for our guests.
The bride, on her favorite moments ~ My most vivid memory of the day was when our Basset Hound, Leroy (our ring bearer), made a loud yawning noise RIGHT at the exact moment he was supposed to come up to give our Pastor the rings. It was like he knew it was his time to go! Another one of my favorite moments, also involving Leroy, was when we were out taking our bridesmaid photos, Leroy came out of a back door and was watching us take the photos. When he realized it was me, he came running towards me, very excited. It made for some really cute photos.
